The 3910 arrived safely on Friday afternoon.

So far it's had 50 hours playing time, and it sounds excellent, even though it's only 1/2 way through the run in time. Even straight out of the box I noticed a marked improvement. I haven't played any DVD-As or SACDs yet, I'm waiting for the 100 hours burn in time to be up before I play them or my favourite CDs.

I can't provide a very technical description, but the first thing I noticed is an increase in the depth and width of the sound, it has much more dimension. The lower frequencies are much more prominent, which is something that was really lacking before. The higher frequencies sound more "rounded off", less harsh on the ears yet very clear, which makes for much easier listening. Overall the sound is more natural, detailed and is a real pleasure to listen to. I can't believe it's the same player, this has really renewed my appreciation of music. The only problem is I can't tear myself away from the couch when I put a CD on!

I've only played a few DVDs, and I'm sure it's not my imagination, but the picture looks improved to. Clearer, better colour, depth of field, etc.
