ROTEL RCD-971

The Rotel RCD-971 manufactured in the mid 90's was a class winner .With black gate capacitors as standard and Burr-Brown PCM63 Dac's delivering a beautiful, musical presentation it found itself pride and place in many systems.Our client requested an upgrade to the stock output stage op-amps ,the OPA2604's ,which had become a bit dated.After swapping between the AD825 ,OPA627 and National Semi's new LM4562 the latter was chosen for its depth and detail and clarity in the bass regions, though somewhat not as lush as the OPA627 in the mids and top-end the unit will be running through a tube pre-amp which should counteract this. This mod greatly enhanced the sonic performance for a minimal cost.
